Reporting an Absence

On Snow Days, when buses are cancelled, all students who walk, and do not attend school must contact the school and report the absence. This is extremely important. Bus students do no have to contact the school.

Reporting your child's absence is very important in the elementary school system. If you have not contacted the school regarding your child's absence the school is required by law to contact home and continue phoning the emergency contacts listed on your child's file until there is someone to confirm the absence. There are many ways you can report your child's absence including telephone, voice mail, e mail, signed notes.

The telephones at R. Tait McKenzie Public School (613-256-8248) are answered Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM on instructional days. There is also a voice mail system that is accessible 24 hours. If you choose this option, a note is not required.

E-mail is an efficient means of contacting the school regarding your student's attendance. Mrs. Brzezynski's e-mail address is: [email protected]

Signed notes are the method of choice for many parents/guardians. Please send notes directly to your child's teacher.

Regular class attendance is imperative for academic success… please facilitate this success by encouraging your child to attend school daily.
